What Is the Santulana Program?
Health in Ayurveda is defined as Sama Dosha, Sama Agni, Sama Dhatu — equal balance of all three doshas, balanced digestive fire, and well-nourished tissues. Chronic stress, irregular routines, poor sleep, and emotional turbulence disturb this balance, causing what Ayurveda calls Dosha Vaishamya. The Santulana program is specifically designed to restore this balance through therapies that simultaneously calm Vata, cool Pitta, and ground Kapha — bringing the body-mind system back to its natural equilibrium.
Signs You Need Santulana
- Feeling scattered, overwhelmed, or emotionally unstable
- Work burnout and chronic fatigue with mental exhaustion
- Insomnia combined with anxiety and restlessness
- Irregular digestion, appetite, and sleep patterns
- Tension headaches and neck-shoulder tightness
- Hormonal mood fluctuations and emotional sensitivity
- Post-travel or post-illness recovery and rebalancing
What the Santulana Session Includes
- Shirodhara (30 min) – Warm medicated oil stream on the forehead activating the hypothalamus, calming the amygdala (stress response centre), and bringing deep mental quietude and clarity
- Thalam (20 min) – Medicinal paste applied to the Brahmarandhra (crown) activating the Sthapani Marma (master balance point), simultaneously balancing all three doshas from their highest governance point
- Pada Abhyanga (40 min) – Grounding foot and leg oil massage stimulating Marma points that connect to the entire nervous system, restoring a sense of being centred, calm, and present

The physician selects the Shirodhara oil (sesame, coconut, medicated milk, or buttermilk) and Thalam paste based on whether Vata, Pitta, or Kapha is most disturbed. The session progressively moves from the crown to the feet — each therapy building on the previous to create an integrated, deeply balanced state by the end of the 2 hours.
