Drishti – Signature Ayurvedic Eye Care Program

Drishti Eye Care Program

Treatment Overview

Drishti — meaning "vision" or "sight" in Sanskrit — is our Signature Ayurvedic Eye Care Program designed to nourish, protect, and revitalise your eyes. In an era of excessive screen use, digital eye strain, dry eyes, and early-onset vision deterioration, the Drishti program combines the three most powerful Ayurvedic eye care therapies: Netra Terpana (medicated ghee pooling), Shiro Abhyanga (medicated head massage), and Nasya (nasal oil) in a single 2-hour session for comprehensive ocular health.

What Is the Drishti Program?

In Ayurveda, the eyes (Netra) are governed by Alochaka Pitta — the sub-dosha responsible for visual perception. Aggravated Pitta from excess screen exposure, heat, stress, or poor diet weakens Alochaka Pitta and deteriorates eye health. Vata imbalance causes dryness, while Kapha causes heaviness and discharge. The Drishti program systematically addresses all three by cooling Pitta, nourishing the optic pathways through Nasya, and improving cerebral blood flow through Shiro Abhyanga.

Signs That You Need the Drishti Program

  • Digital eye strain and screen fatigue
  • Dry, itchy, or burning eyes
  • Frequent eye redness or irritation
  • Blurred vision after screen use
  • Headaches linked to eye strain
  • Early-stage vision deterioration or deteriorating eyesight
  • Dark circles and puffy eyes from poor sleep or stress

What the Drishti Session Includes

  • Netra Terpana (30 min) – Medicated ghee pooled within a dough dam over both closed eyes, deeply nourishing the cornea, reducing dryness and inflammation, and strengthening ocular muscles
  • Shiro Abhyanga (40 min) – Medicated head and scalp oil massage improving cerebral blood circulation to the optic nerve and reducing tension-related eye strain
  • Nasya (15 min) – Medicated nasal oil instilled to nourish the optic pathways through the nasal-cranial channel, supporting long-term vision health

The session begins with a brief physician assessment of eye condition, screen habits, sleep quality, and stress levels. The appropriate medicated ghee for Netra Terpana and nasal oil for Nasya are selected based on whether the predominant imbalance is Pitta, Vata, or Kapha in nature — ensuring the most effective personalised eye care experience.

Netra Terpana deeply nourishes the cornea and ocular tissues with medicated ghee, providing immediate relief from dryness and strain.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often should I take the Drishti program?
For active digital eye strain, weekly sessions for 4 weeks are recommended followed by monthly maintenance. For preventive eye care, once a month is ideal.
  • Is Netra Terpana safe for contact lens wearers?
Contact lenses must be removed before the session. Netra Terpana is performed on closed eyes and is safe for most patients. The physician assesses any existing eye conditions before proceeding.
  • Can the Drishti program help with computer vision syndrome?
Yes. Drishti is specifically designed for digital eye strain and computer vision syndrome, addressing dryness, redness, strain, and headaches associated with prolonged screen use.
  • Who should avoid Netra Terpana?
Those with acute eye infections, recent eye surgery, conjunctivitis, or significant eye injury should get ophthalmological clearance before Netra Terpana.
  • Can Drishti help with glaucoma or retinal conditions?
Drishti provides supportive Ayurvedic care for early-stage glaucoma and retinal weakness. It does not replace ophthalmological treatment for serious structural eye conditions — regular eye specialist monitoring remains essential.
