Keshya – Signature Ayurvedic Hair Care Program

Keshya Hair Care Program

Treatment Overview

Keshya — from the Sanskrit word for "hair" — is our Signature Ayurvedic Hair Care Program that deeply nourishes hair roots, strengthens follicles, reduces hair fall, and revitalises scalp health. This 2-hour program combines Shiro Abhyanga (medicated scalp oil massage), Shirodhara (warm oil stream), and Nasya (nasal oil therapy) — addressing hair fall, scalp conditions, premature greying, and thinning hair from both internal and external aspects as Ayurveda prescribes.

What Is the Keshya Program?

In Ayurveda, hair (Kesha) is a by-product of bone tissue (Asthi Dhatu) and is nourished through the same channels that feed the nervous system. Excess Pitta dosha destroys hair follicles causing hair fall and premature greying. Vata imbalance dries the scalp causing brittleness and breakage. The Keshya program uses medicated Keshya (hair-nourishing) oils rich in Pitta-cooling and follicle-nourishing herbs — delivered through deep scalp massage, oil stream, and nasal pathway — to comprehensively restore hair health.

Causes of Hair Problems Addressed by Keshya

  • Excess Pitta dosha destroying hair follicles (Khalitya)
  • Chronic stress and anxiety causing stress-induced hair fall
  • Poor scalp circulation reducing follicle nourishment
  • Hormonal imbalances (thyroid, PCOS, androgens)
  • Nutritional deficiencies affecting hair tissue
  • Chemical treatments and heat-damaged hair
  • Scalp inflammation, dandruff, and fungal conditions

What the Keshya Session Includes

  • Shiro Abhyanga (40 min) – Deep medicated scalp and head oil massage using Keshya herbal oils (Bhringraj, Brahmi, Amla) to nourish follicles, improve scalp circulation, and reduce Pitta
  • Shirodhara (30 min) – Warm medicated oil stream on the forehead and scalp calming the nervous system, reducing stress-related hair fall, and deeply penetrating the scalp
  • Nasya (15 min) – Medicated nasal oil to nourish hair roots through the cranial-scalp pathway as described in classical Ayurvedic texts

The session begins with a scalp and hair assessment to identify the predominant cause of hair fall — Pitta (inflammatory), Vata (dry/brittle), or hormonal. The appropriate medicated oil is selected accordingly. Post-session, the physician provides dietary and lifestyle guidance for continued hair health improvement between sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many Keshya sessions are needed to see results?
Reduction in hair fall is typically noticed within 4–6 sessions. New hair growth may begin appearing after 8–12 sessions combined with consistent dietary support.
  • Can Keshya help with male pattern baldness?
Keshya is most effective for stress-related, Pitta-related, and nutritional hair fall. Male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) has a genetic component; Ayurvedic treatment can slow its progression and improve remaining hair health.
  • Is the oil left in the hair after the session?
Yes, medicated oil remains in the hair for best absorption. It is recommended to wash hair gently 2–3 hours after the session or the following morning for maximum benefit.
  • Can hormonal hair fall (PCOS, thyroid) be treated with Keshya?
Keshya provides scalp and follicle care. For hormonal hair fall, it is best combined with targeted disease treatment (PCOS or thyroid program) for comprehensive results addressing both the root hormonal cause and scalp health.
  • How often should I take the Keshya program?
For active hair fall, weekly sessions are recommended for the first 6–8 weeks. For maintenance and prevention, once every 2 weeks is adequate.
