What Is Padabhyanga?
In classical Ayurvedic texts, Padabhyanga is described as a daily practice (Dinacharya) that improves vision, prevents dryness and cracking of feet, calms Vata dosha, improves sleep, and nourishes the nervous system. The feet contain 107 Marma points (vital energy points) that connect to the eyes, brain, digestive system, and other organs. Stimulation of these points through medicated oil massage creates a systemic calming and nourishing effect throughout the body.
Who Needs the Padabhyanga Program?
- Diabetic neuropathy and foot numbness or tingling
- Heel pain, plantar fasciitis, and cracked heels
- Tired legs and feet from prolonged standing or walking
- Poor lower limb circulation
- Insomnia and difficulty sleeping (feet massage promotes deep sleep)
- General fatigue, body ache, and daily stress
- Varicose veins and lower leg oedema (mild cases)

The appropriate medicated oil is selected based on your constitution and health concern — Vata-types receive warm, heavy oils for deep nourishment; Pitta-types receive cooling oils; and Kapha-types receive light, stimulating oils. Diabetic patients receive specifically formulated oils addressing neuropathic changes in foot circulation.
